Yesterday’s gains were erased and then some, as Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England did his best to wipe out any sterling strength. King took part in an interview with an English newspaper published this morning and his comments were in line with testimony he gave to the UK treasury commission last week, he also reiterated his view that Britain needed to rebalance its economy to focus more on exports.
